Tasks to be completed
- Design a nice front page! CaptOblivious
- Figure out how we want to style the model pages, e.e.g JNR Class EF66 (model) --CaptOblivious 21:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Create/modify a series of pages to help people contribute. Already have a page on working with Japanese; need one for Railway terminogloy conventions (e.g. KOKI 100 vs. KOKI100 or EF66 vs JNR Class EF66); one for helping people figure out how to import pages with proper credit; and of course pages on help with editing. All should be easily and readily accessible. Who wants this project?? Shashinka? --CaptOblivious 17:35, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Complete inclusion of foreign language templates. see Template:Nihongo/doc. Also [1] CaptOblivious
- Tidy up current articles.
- Clean up categories created by importation of pages. CaptOblivious
- Just for fun, I made a page for colors (a hot topic on the Yahoo mailing list), based on the Japanese page. Needs a lot of translating! I think this is a good exercise for all of us in translating Japanese text. I've started with the color table at the bottom, but If no-one else is comfortable translating, I can handle much of the rest. Shashinka, you game? - Mass database import from Wikipedia, Wikimedia. Importing JR Group related pages, prototype data, images, and related subsets. Importing Railway history and popular culture articles.Light editing of imported data files. Goal to import 500 articles. Shashinka 00:00, 23 June 2009 (EST)
- Locate articles with broken image links and reconnect to wikimedia or upload smaller resolution if unable to re-establish direct link to wikimedia. Shashinka 09:00, 26 June 2009 (EST)
Points of Discussion
Should we create a new namespace for modelling entries? E.g. we could have Prototype:JNR Class EF66 for the article on the real thing, and Model:JNR Class EF66 for the article discussing the various models available? Or should we keep to the same namespace, and use some other delimiter? E.g.: JNR Class EF66 and JNR Class EF66 (model) --CaptOblivious 04:01, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would opt for the latter, this seems to work well for wikipedia and personally I find this way much easier to navigate. For the non technical user, remembering the namespace might be difficult. I know that both would be listed when doing a search for EF66.--Jns 14:13, 9 June 2009 (GMT+1)
Main Page points
It would be good to figure out how to have a sectional front page. By this I mean maybe on the left have the last x created pages summarised, and on the right a random article (cropped for size obviously)--Jns 14:13, 9 June 2009 (GMT+1)
- I did a little looking around at how Wikipedia does it, and it appears non-trivial. I can't find any useful extensions that would help with this, but they must exist. --CaptOblivious 13:31, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Get all the CSS together that the JNR Class EF66 article needs. see here: [2] CaptOblivious--CaptOblivious 03:13, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Get SVG working. Normally, MW rasterizes SVG files to PNGs. However, Darren's host has disallowed the necessary PHP functions to do this (a reasonable security precaution). There is supposed to be a way to force MW to not attempt rasterization, but just pass SVG files as is, but I can't figure out how.
